This custom home is a true labor of love! Our clients, a family of six relocating from out of town, wanted a home that balanced modern design with Colorado’s rural character. They turned to us as their residential architect in Colorado to bring their vision to life—creating a home that is both functional for a busy family and deeply connected to its surroundings.

Designing for Family Living

When designing for a large family, functionality and durability are key. Every detail of this custom home design was planned to make daily life simple and efficient. The layout is clear and purposeful: one gabled form houses the vertical circulation, while the second gable opens into spacious, light-filled living areas. The result is a home that feels open and connected, yet easy to maintain.

Inspired by Colorado’s History

The wood siding on the exterior is inspired by the historic structures found throughout Colorado’s rural landscape. This natural material brings warmth and texture to the home and will weather beautifully over time. In contrast, black steel detailing and bold window frames introduce a modern edge, giving the home a timeless yet contemporary feel.

The overall form is simple—two gabled volumes—but the effect is striking. The design reflects the best of modern residential architecture: clean lines, purposeful spaces, and a strong relationship to the landscape. Large windows capture natural light, while the pergola at the entry provides a welcoming transition from street to home.
